January 25 this year marks the new beginning of Capcom‘s long-running series, Resident Evil, with the successful launch of the remastered version of Resident Evil 2 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. The remake instantly became a phenomenal hit that it not only revived the love of the series’ die-hard fans but also started a new batch of supporters in today’s generation.

However, some of the series’ devotees are dismayed with the news about Capcom having no plans on releasing RE2 remastered on Nintendo’s latest handheld console.

But, worry not though, RE fans, things are about to change now. Recently, Capcom announced that fans can continue their exploration on the series anywhere they go as three of the classic Resident Evil games are headed to the Nintendo Switch this May!

The publisher confirmed that Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 1, and Resident Evil 4 will be available in the Nintendo Switch on May 21, 2019, which can be purchased individually via the Nintendo eShop. In fact, pre-orders have started since February 28th.

BUT…

Capcom also announced that they are working on a physical release which will be called, Resident Evil: Origins Collection, containing both Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil 1 as an HD remaster, which will release in North America on May 21st as well.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

(1) As of the time of writing, it is still unclear if both RE0 and 1 will be on the same game card or one of them will be on a digital download code.

(2) Capcom confirmed that RE4 will be available in all regions as a digital release only.

(3) All three classic Resident Evil games will be available in Europe as separate digital downloads only. So, if you’d prefer getting the physical release of RE0 & 1, you can import the US version of the game since Switch is region-free.
