After the first release for Windows PC in September 2014 and following to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, inXile Entertainment has confirmed that the Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut is coming to Nintendo Switch this April 16th. Wasteland 2 is a post-apocalyptic role-playing video game and the sequel to the 1988’s Wasteland. Wasteland 2 was crowdfunded via Kickstarter and it was successful.
inXile Entertainment was founded by Brian Fargo, the original producer of Fallout. At first, Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut is only available on Nintendo e-shop for $29.99. Then, in September 2018, to commemorate the debut of Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut on Nintendo Switch, inXile Entertainment has confirmed the physical version is coming. It was scheduled to last December 4, 2018. However, it got delayed. The Public Relations and Community Manager of inXile has told it in a Reddit thread.
The game sets in an alternate history timeline wherein this is a part of speculative fiction. A nuclear war happened between the United States and the Soviet Union in 1998. As the war continues to break down, the U.S Army Engineers were in the area of a southwestern desert as they build bridges where a number of survivalists resided. Years later, they formed the Desert Rangers for them to help other survivors in the desert and beyond this land full of sands.
Fifteen years after the events from the original Wasteland, the Rangers now conquered the former Guardian Citadel. However, one of the experienced rangers, Ace, found dead by the locals with signs of struggle and violence on his dead body. With this incident, the player is on the mission to find out who killed their experience ranger and complete the mission of Ace.
The Director’s Cut will have new features such as you can now customize your squad more along with the weapons and suits in customizable perks and quirks to give more life to your characters with their own special personality traits. There are over 8,000 lines of new voice-over dialogs to look out as it brings the 1988 Wasteland like never before. Get ready to strategize to defeat the enemies to bring justice to the wasteland!
