Recently, Koei Tecmo revealed a new gameplay trailer and new information of the latest entry in GUST Studio’s long-running Atelier franchise, Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland. The new trailer focuses on the game’s new features in its battle system.

Alchemists exploring Arland for raw materials should always be prepared for battle — these beautiful lands are not only home to important resources but dangerous creatures waiting to attack. Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland features a turn-based battle system where players can form a party consisting of five members: three attackers and two taking a supportive role.
Support members automatically perform Assist Attacks to compliment the attacker’s actions, and aiming to trigger these regularly will ensure that maximum damage is dealt to enemies.
Koei Tecmo continued, attackers will come equipped with an arsenal of unique skills that can be used to strike enemy weaknesses. For example, the gifted Eva can utilize the range Shift skill; extending her area of attack for some rounds. Furthermore, these abilities can also help in the decryption of the Alchemy Riddle, helping players unlock new synthesis recipes and extra skills.
More so, a particular inert ability known as a Primal Art can also be awakened in the game, but, this will depend on the formation of attackers at the start of an encounter. These arts automatically activate to give the party support through their fight in the form of increasing Item Damage, or even raising Attack Damage, for the totality of the battle.
In Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland, alchemists are able to utilize the new Interrupt ability, offering the chance for them to perform a special Interrupt Skill and use a pre-equipped item, outside of their turn. Once the gauge is full from performing attacks, the skill can be triggered and the pre-equipped item will not be consumed when used – giving the attacking team the upper hand against powerful foes.
These new battle features were detailed further in a fresh asset batch released alongside the announcement today, featuring a first gameplay trailer of Lulua and her party in combat!

But that’s not all. Koei Tecmo also announced that players who will purchase Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland physically or digitally in the first month after release will receive the ‘Innocent Fairy’ and ‘Fish Girl’ costumes via DLC for free.
