Koei Tecmo has been generous enough to invite some outlets on a pre-release event for their upcoming anime action-adventure, Fairy Tail, and got a chance to have their first hands-on previews of the PS4 version of the game. Luckily, this direct-feed gameplay of new features of the game has also been shared publicly. And of course, we’ve got you covered!

Some of the outlets that went live with their hands-on previews are NintendoEverthing, DualShockers, GameSpot, Noisy Pixel and Fextralife.

The gameplay video starts with a battle scene of the turn-based game with Lucy, Erza, and Natsu in the battleground. After three victorious battles, a new area has been unlocked which is the Akane beach where we see a glimpse of an alluring Erza in her swimming attire. For Erza, life is not all about engaging in battle and haven’t forgotten work-life balance which is for her that is, play hard, eat hard & sleep hard.

Nevertheless, Erza and the rest of the Fairy Tail guild are thrown in this beach for a purpose – training. This beach will serve as their training camp to get in shape in preparation for the Grand Magic Games.

Various foes are scattered on the beach and one of them is a group of disgusting whale-like creatures called Landwhales. In the gameplay trailer, we can see that Natsu, Erza, and Lucy take on the challenge to defeat the creatures with the use of different summoning skills and magic spells.

Also, you will have an encounter with suspicious people on the beach which are Ultear and Jellal. Ultear and Jellal know that the Fairy Tail guild is competing in the Grand Magic Game. Both of them gave the guild a mission which is to uncover the origin of the unusual magic in the Grand Magic Games in exchange for the strength and power-up that the guild will receive.

But, that’s not all. We also get to see Lucy’s room, the town of Magnolia, and close-ups of the character models.

Game Overview

The game follows the adventures of an old magical guild known as “Fairy Tail.” Follow the roles of Natsu Dragneel, a descendant of a dragon, Lucy Heartfilia, a mage and the brand-new member of the guild, as well as the rest of the guild’s eccentric members.

Fairy Tail is returning to Earth-land soon! Are you ready to see all the magic brought to life? Join Natsu Dragneel and Lucy Heartfilia and the rest of the guild in their next adventure in PS4, Switch & PC!

What to Expect?

According to the Japanese gaming magazine, the main story of the game will last for about 30-hours long. Take note, that 30 hours of gameplay is for the main story alone. Plus, the game also features side contents including character episodes and special costumes which means the gameplay will go over 30 hours. Well, get ready to kiss goodbye to plenty of hours of your life, folks.

For the first time in the series, Fairy Tail will feature game-unique stories that are never seen before in the original manga or anime such as requests related to characters. Choose among more than 10 playable characters and costumes.

As you progress in the game, your magic links will intensify. But, you can only achieve this once your guild rank increases. Plus, you can learn ultra magic-esque legend-class magic. Also, it is worth noting that you can strengthen and deepen the bonds with your faction by placing them in your party or by accomplishing requests together.
