Advance Wars: Days of Ruin Advance Wars series is a turn-based war game - something like chess or Risk, ut with cheery colours, countless maps and 26 different units to play with. Most of the series' characteristics remain intac in Advance Wars: Days Of Ruin, except that the tone seems to have twisted towards the dark. Previous games had a light-hearted approach to war - countries fight for the sake of doing so. Days Of Ruin, however, is set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a huge meteor shower. The game is also chock-full of moral values you can learn from its heroes and villians - from the value of life to the innate goodness of humankind. Gameplay largely consists of you moving your units - including soldiers, tanks and aircraft - around the map grid, luring and attacking enemy units. Where you wage your battles is important, too. Each type of terrain has its own movement costs and defence benefits. For instance, you can see - in game-speak - more through the fog of war, when your unit is on from the moutain. However, bases and forests help fortify your defence. There's also new terrain such as wasteland and ruins. Commanding officers no longer have game-changing powers, but can now attach themselves to a unit for a boost on the battlefield itself. Multiplayer has always been a big thing in the Advance War series, but Days Of Ruin takes it one step higher with the inclusion of Nintendo's Wi-Fi Connection - you can now wage wars with your friends over the Internet. A multitude of things are added to every Advance Wars game, but Days Of Ruin seems like a fresh take on the series, with many units being replaced by others, and a sense of humour despite its dark, post- apocalyptic theme. If only real military life was as addictive. Recommended for anyone seeking a good strategy game.

Best Advance Wars yet. This game is absolutely stunning. The change of style was a smart move. The game is a lot more dark and dreary. The new units are also incredible.
I also love how they've removed the ridiculous CO Powers and the dual screen battles. The game is now a lot speedier and a lot more balanced. The emphasis now is on strategy and not power.
And of course, it has online. Not only that, it has voice chat!! Finally Nintendo!!!

A change of looks and a return to form! This new entry in the Advance Wars series changes the mood to a more serious one, and refines the gameplay delivering a fast and enjoyable experience. Much better than Dual Strike in my opinion.
