description

Fast-paced, highly advanced and furiously violent, Max Payne returns to reinvent the shooter genre with the most sophisticated, stylized shooting action, and a dark and deeply immersive story following one of the most iconic characters in video games. 12 years after the events of Max Payne 2, Max finds himself in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where security work is plentiful but the risks are high. But murder and betrayal dog his every step, and once again, Max is thrust into the heart of a brutal city with nothing but his weapons and his instincts in a desperate search for the truth and a way out.

Great game, i didn't have install glitch or anything similar. the SP campaing is amazing, action and great difficulty. In hard mode it took me 11 hrs. If you are up to challenge try the classic difficulty after complete hard mode.

Throughly enjoyable
One of the few games to successfully combine great action and compelling storytelling.

Excellent so far, despite install glitches
This is a stunning game. Having played through the first few sections last night I completely agree with all the lavish praise heaped on this game in the various reviews I've seen on the net. Go read them for the usual review content.

My main warning with this particular product from Play-Asia is that, despite the game itself being in English when you run it, the manual is almost 100% Chinese. Apart from the odd chapter heading and the word "Max Payne" scattered through it, it won't mean anything to you if you don't read the language. The back of the box is the same. Don't be put off, the game runs fine and its menus, text and speech all default to English.

A word on the updater. It's late June 2012 now, perhaps subsequent updates will fix this issue. The game comes on 4 DVD disks and takes a long time to install.. about an hour over my external DVD drive's USB cable. Once installed on my Windows 7 system, trying to run the game will kick off an auto-update process. This completed two or three steps, then seemed to get stuck, the updater window stayed on-screen saying "0 updates", and has come up every time I've run the game. The game itself started windowed, but nearly full-screen, and it took a few restarts to kick it into true full-screen mode. I googled the problem and saw people recommending some quite hacky solutions to problems with the updater, but I didn't have to use any of them, just restarted a few times and perhaps closed a CPU temperature monitor window.

Really looking forward to getting back into this after work. A decade of waiting and it's living up to the expectations.
