Remembering LIFE FORCE
During high school, LIFE FORCE was a game located in an arcade near Ala Moana Center in Honolulu. I played it quite often though the music was mostly subdued by the settings and other games nearby.

Flash forward to 2006 when I discovered OverClocked Remix where several redone versions of LIFE FORCE tracks exist. The remixes were cool and piqued my interest in the game again via MAME.

Then in 2016, on a whim while browsing video game soundtracks at Play-Asia & eBay... I discovered this SALAMANDER release and just took a chance on it.

What's really cool about this disc is it contains all the under score from all three game variants plus an extensive SFX suite as a bonus. And I mean all the sounds and dialogue bits. For those who like old school game music AND SFX, Konami did a wonderful job of preserving it all here.

Plus the cover art is way cool, too!

High quality space gaming music
Salamander is a soundtrack of top quality. However I do feel it doesn't quite reach the level of the legendary Gradius (though it is close!). Also, you can surely say Salamander is not very experimental, which can be a good thing. Meaning if you are looking for easy-to-enjoy retro space gaming tracks, this CD gives you exactly that.

Salamander Arcade Soundtrack is definitely worth the money for those who loved Gradius and desire for more.

Fantastic!
Konami shooters from Gradius to Twinbee have always attracted some fantastic music and Salamander Arcade Soundtrack is no exception. As good as the music to the original Salamander on this disc is though, it's the more fleshed-out Salamander 2 tracks that really impress. Hard to believe this awesome disc is still in print actually... Hint: Get it while you can!

Nostalgia
Salamander is a challenging game with great music.
The first 13 tracks are from Salamander and LifeForce and the dated sound just make them charming compositions.14 to 33 is Salamander 2 tracks and my favorites! You can "feel the heat" in "Silvery Wings Again", "Sensation", "Speed" and "Dear Blue", then wander through techno mixes (dance with "Planet Ratis") and cool boss tracks ("Theme of the Gorem" (used in some Gradius games), "Theme of the Living Body Boss" and "Giga's Rage").
Plus, there's the typical SE track and the booklet comes with a sweet score book.
Shooter fans must have this CD!
