The Best !!!
Ryu ga Gotoku 2 is one of the best games of PlayStation 2! The graphics are a little bit better than the first game, but the history is a little bit better in the first game. The character Kiryu Kazuma is super cool, I love too play this game. If you like mafia games with martial arts fights, I really recommend this game ... buy and enjoy it!!!

Ryu Ga Gotoku2: A MUST PLAY FOR PS2 Owners
There are so many great action games for PS2 and I'm sure one could name several of them as I mentioned it. However, for RYU GA GOTOKU2 (Yakuza2) is just another one of those GREATS that can't be missed. Surely, you could argue that the game does include some of the stuff that has nothing to do with the game's main plot, especially for all the extra mini games that players encounter during the adventure mode.
BUT this is why it makes RYU GA GOTOKU2 so unique is that other than just being an action-fighting game, it has its own highly original style and its very own world. Now, we kind of see this style for RPG games where players interact with the games own created world of fantasy, and RGG2 does the same and not only does it have GREAT Action fighting, but you get to actually experience the JAPANESE CITY NIGHT LIFE. The environment or the city itself resembles Shinjuku or Kabukicho in a remodified way, so you do actually get to experience a close representation to the JAPANESE CITY NIGHT LIFE filled with dark corners, red-light districts, strip clubs, bars, etc...
But this is why it is a GREAT GAME because it is very real in reflecting the life in a city. This game is like no other actions games, even though some people might see some similarities between the GOD FATHER and RGG2, because the designs are so detailed, often flashy and colorful.

If you're ever the one who finds yourself romanticizing being a Yakuza, and being the one who upholds the honor and respect, while beating up low-life mafia scumbags, then this is the GAME FOR YOU. This game unlike the GOD FATHER, shows us the Japanese Mafia. Although the stories are fictional, but it offers a general view of the Yakuza. If you like GOD FATHER, then I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GAME to you.

This second episode of the game is an improvement to the first one. Don't worry about not having played the first one because there are flashbacks that you could look at before the game begins.

don't miss out on this one as well
If you have missed out on Yakuza 2 (the North American version) you should not do the same for this one.

While this package is in Japanese, a grasp of kanji characters was quite enough for me to understand a fair bit in order to progress. Of course, there are some complex dialogues which you can't figure out but the overall gameplay experience should make up for it.

Also, even if you have missed out on the first game, Ryu Ga Gotoku 2 is very sympathetic to the beginner - there are plenty of flashbacks to the first game to fill up the timeline gaps. Plus, there is a healthy amount of opportunity for you to come to grips with the combat system - the earlier enemies are quite easy to beat and you could showcase your special moves on them. Plus, the graphics are quite good - the city looked great but there are some plain textures found on some vehicles and clothing.

The storyline itself is gripping and exciting and if you played along the main plot minus all the side quests, the story moves along at quite a pace. The side quests itself are the filler for the game - you could play bowling; try your luck at the casino; chill out at the Sega Club arcades; meet some pretty hostesses; buy food and other health supplements and even play CEO by taking over a run-down bar with unhappy workers and limited cash.

I can't seem to find something to flame this game about - but if I have to, it should be the crazy boss fights. The game seemed to understand that you can't win all battles and there is an option to simplify the game for just that brief encounter.

This game is simply one of those you should not miss out on.
