五年前，因拍攝《孤僻者的母親》，楊樞導演（宮哲　飾）遭中國政府處罰，滯留香港，至今無法回國。住在四川的媽媽（耐安　飾）雖多年前胃癌手術成功，但近期復發，很快要再動手術，因此很想與女兒，及四年來只透過網絡「認識」的外孫見面。楊樞導演與香港丈夫（Pete Teo　飾）帶著四歲的兒子（譚心悅　飾）藉參加電影節的機會，從流亡地香港到台灣，來實現這次家庭團聚。無奈媽媽不能脫離旅行團「自由行」，女婿訂了與媽媽相同的酒店、查好旅行團路線，協助全家在台灣的酒店和各風景區會面。
