No title
As a SHMUP novice, I can't speak about the minute details and technical aspects of this game. But as someone playing Deathsmiles for the very first time, I have to say that it's a fascinating collection.

In terms of artistic direction, music and story, both games are wholeheartedly weird and have this charming low-budget vibe to them. Gameplay wise, there are enough versions of each title to tinker around with and plenty of ways to adjust the difficulty, which means that anyone can see the game from start to finish. I'll admit, the short playtime makes it temping to replay over and over again, all while aiming for a better score.

The first game has a distinct Halloween theme, while the second is set during Christmas. I found myself waiting to play them during their respective holidays, and it really helped set the mood. Overall, it's a quirky experience that I've been compelled to play again and again. I'd definitely recommend it to genre veterans and curious newbies alike.

Great game.
It's overall just a great game if you had it on the xbox or you missed out on it. You have to get it on the Switch.

Switch!!! Deathsmiles!!! Yay!!!
Anyone remember Deathsmiles on Xbox 360? My copy came with a faceplate that was unusable on the 360s version. Being late to the party, I bought the game new about a year after release, with the special edition heavily discounted due to that faceplate.
What a game! An excellent $20 spent back in the day, sadly Deathsmiles 2 was released but in Japanland only, and the 360 was region locked. Fast foreword several years. Seeing this game available on Switch brought back all kinds of happy to me! Being a Shiite up and cute em up fan from long before there was a name for them, I had longed for the return of what we called “shooter” game series from my youth like the Cotton, Parodius, RType, Darius series, among others. With all of these classic games returning and the Cotton games and Deathsmiles, they have officially made the Nintendo Switch the best console ever created. Now how about bringing back Keio flying squadron….
