Great Addition to the series!
I fell in love with Dragon Quest when I found DQVIII at a pawnshop on a whim. I now own all the games except for 10, and can say with confidence that this is a great addition to the franchise. The graphics are good, and it has iconic music that still hold ups. I’ve played around a bit switching from 3D to 2d; I do prefer the 3D, but the 2d is still good. The story is engaging and sucked me in.

I personally love this game; but I will throw out that I lent this to a friend who has only played DQXI, and she didn’t like it. But you should still give the demo a try.

Masterpiece Dragon Quest Game
Whether you’re new to DQ, or a long time player, this game is an instant classic! The story should keep you interested and the gameplay if fun and well paced. The characters are likable. Akira Toriyama’s art style is phenomenal. The original soundtrack played by the Tokyo Metropolitan Philharmonic is out of this world and fits the game perfectly. Gameplay challenging but fair - you may need to grind or adjust your strategies during some boss battles. Pick this one up if you’ve not played it already.

A Great JRPG! Can’t wait for XII!
Dragon Quest XI is one of the best JRPGs out there. If you are a fan of traditional Role-playing games, you’ll love this. If you are a casual gamer who’s only experience with RPGs are The Witcher III and Skyrim, you’ll probably won’t get it’s appeal. Aside for the voice acting, the Turn-based combat feels good, The character designs are by Akira Toriyama himself, The orchestral music is amazing, and The exploration is very enjoyable. Overall, a very fun game to play. You’ll love this if you’re a fan of The Legend of Zelda or the Pokémon games.

A Beautiful Nostalgic JRPG
Originally released for the Nintendo 3DS back in 2017, it was later retooled for PS4 and PC. But the Switch version is no mere port either. The Switch version also contains the Tockington material that used to be exclusive for the DS version. The Switch version also allows you to switch between the beautiful Unreal engine graphics or a classic 16-bit look. You also get a choice with the in game music as well being able to switch between a synthesized or orchestral soundtrack. The story abs characters are very engaging. The character and creature designs are so cute! Story wise it is somewhat linear. And although the game seems like an open world type, it isn’t really. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but something to keep in mind. It very much has a classic old school JRPG feel to it. And that is what I wanted to play!
