bliss
the sheet music from this book is so beautiful it arranged the music from the game in such a way that if play correctly will make you cry. i recommend buying this book and learning all the songs.

Long awaited
I believe this to be a very good selection of pieces from the soundtrack. The truth is I only bought it for Fang's Theme, which is an amazing piano solo piece. Overall the music is manageable except for the composers love of having very open chords, which can be hard if you have smaller hands like I do. If you are a fan of the game, are at a more advanced piano level, this is a must have in the FF Piano Collections.

Definitely worth buying
I do agree that certain themes are overused. However, if you enjoy listening to Fang's Theme, definitely buy this. The piece is challenging to read, but the arrangement is very well-developed, unique, and fun to play.

Worthy of applause
Of the Final Fantasy Piano collections which are attributable to Masashi Hamauzu, admittedly this was not his best piece of work.

There are some themes such as Fang's Theme which sound absolutely amazing, but Hamauzu has really used too many references to Serah's theme and Lightning's theme from the original soundtrack. It really takes away the uniqueness of some of the pieces on this album. Also, some of the lighter pieces such as Gapra Whitewood and Sulya Springs feel a little lacking in texture and substance. Of course, it is understandable that they originated from rather plain background themes, but nonetheless I'm a little disappointed that Hamauzu didn't do more with these pieces to really bring them to life.

Nonetheless, despite these slight setbacks, all the pieces still provide a very good listen and Hamauzu's work is indeed worthy of applause. My personal recommendations from this album would be Fang's Theme, Nascent Requiem, Vanille's Theme and Prelude: Final Fantasy XIII.

My favorites are Nascent Requiem which is better than the OST version, March of the Dreadnought, The Promise and Nautilus. I'm disappointed that Lake Bresha (one of the best songs out of FFXIII) wasn't in the PC or a Brief Respite which will be my main reason for buying the OST book.
