Not the original, but the original remake
Whoa, not counting the MSX release from way back, this game has gotten remakes on at least 5 different machines. Each one added a little bit more than the last.
This one was the first though. The first remake. It's the closest to the original NES game, and has the lowest resolution, the worst graphics, the lowest quality sound... huh. That was supposed to sound positive and went to a dark place.
Okay yeah, let me try to turn this around. This is the remake all the others were based on. It is the original, as long as you don't count the actual original. It plays just like the NES game, with a couple of bug fixes, and some optional improvements.
More importantly, it has the clang! The Power Staff produces a *clang* in this game when you hit something with it. All the later remakes replaced this sound with a *thud* or something. This is the only place you can hear the clang!
Alright, so it's almost exactly the same game as the one in FF Origins on the Playstation, with inferior graphics and sound, and it's not in English, but it's portable. That's got to account for something, right? And the other portable versions have changed quite a bit from the original game.
So if you'd like to see how the FF1 remakes began, this game is for you, as long as you don't mind that it's in Japanese. Plus, the clang!
