It is not Fire Emblem, it is not Persona. But it is a union between the two that works very well. Long, intricate and with quality matches. A game made to measure of its predecessors, sinning at times of repetitive, but that remedies it with an intelligent use of the gamepad.
Bought it during a sale and put about 12 h into it so far, it's a very different game, but feels like it has a very solid rpg fundamentals.
After also watched some persona 5 streams it is really similar gameplaywise it seemingly, with maybe a bit less interaction between dungeons(still quite a bit). That said I'm still only at chapter 2, it has great presentation, but you might want to watch trailers to know what to expect of the story(which is why i put it on 3 stars atm, opinion might change deeper into the game).
Don't listen to all the haters.
All the complaints of "idol trash" only account for a chapter or two. The setting is about the show business at large, and involves drama, stage plays, and fashion.
Very great RPG don't miss excusive for wii u.
Like the Persona series, you play as a high school student trying to balance life versus battles against otherworldly beings trying to destroy humanity. The big difference is that some of your team are idols, and music, song and performance play a big part in the story. While fun, I have to say that the main heroine's lack of self-confidence becomes really grating after the first half-dozen times she needs the player character to give her a confidence boost. You've already performed in front of thousands of people and defeated numerous horrors, woman! Stop needing me to hold your hand!
