Improved version over PS1
Finally Gunbird has the Tate option which was not available on the PS1 version. Gunbird is one of the earlier Psikyo shooters and offers a balanced selection of "ships" for you to choose from. It doesn't have complex scoring system like today's shooters but one can just pick it up and give it a blast and enjoy it to the fullest. The only thing that's keeping it from 5 stars is that the graphics are a little dated and Gunbird 2 just improved in every department over this one.

Excellent shooter !
Only downsides are the limited screen options they give in Gunbird...
