LIGHTNING RETURNS™: FINAL FANTASY XIII is the much anticipated sequel to Final Fantasy XIII. Mechanically great, but narratively.... meh
FF13 series continues with Lightning returns.... it's an interesting game to recommend, not really because it gives you a great closure, but it mixes up the FF formula even further.

Best out of the 3 games in the serie
Finished the game twice. You can tell SE has done their best to redeem the FF13 title.
The battle system is VERY well made, almost one the most addictive systems in FF history imo.
The outfit changing system is also fun to play with since there could be thousands of combinations with all kinds of different abilities in each one.
The game itself is also very detailed, i.e. NPCs have different reactions when you wear different outfits. and most of the side quests have their own stories that give you some sorta background knowledge of the game. The cost of it is that there is NO cg cut-scenes other than the beginning and the end, which makes the game very clean and smooth to run.
The main story is abit short, it's really just to wrap up the entire story from the previous game. However, you can (at least i did) still easily spend over 60 hours on the first run trying to finish all the side quests (without looking at any guides, of coz).
Overall, you can feel the sincere from SE. They were serious about this game and it definitely redeemed the title of FF13. IF you wanna try playing LRFF13 but haven't played the first 2, just go on YouTube and watch all the cut scenes first, then proceed to this game, you won't be disappointed.
LRFFXIII - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
