江順（廖啟智 飾）和弟弟江夠力（湯小康 飾）在適耕莊的小鎮裡經營一家老舊的咖啡店。兩兄弟平凡的生活，就在只有小孩智商的江順不知從哪抱來一個被拋棄的女嬰的那一天開始，起了巨大的變化。 江順堅持要當女嬰的養父，並為她取名為江聰明。
小聰明（林心如飾）長大後果然非常聰明，是小鎮裡的鬼靈精，保護爸爸不被鎮裡的其他小孩欺負，還在爸爸的身上放了一個哨子，要他遇到危險的時候就吹哨子，聰明就會馬上來救他。
日子一天天的過去，聰明（江倩齡飾）已經是個中學生了。跟小時候一樣 保護爸爸不被欺負，更獨立自主，且時常為了爸爸跟叔叔江夠力抬槓。
好景不長，正值青春的聰明跟學校新來的轉學生Oscar（韋智華飾）互生好感，也因此遭到班上女同學的嫉妒，處處為難她。但聰明，並沒有因此而退縮。可這 份單純的感情卻因聰明的家世背景，遭到Oscar母親（蔣佩佩飾）極力的反對。聰明開始討厭自己的家，討厭有一個弱智的爸爸，覺得爸爸常常壞了自己的好 事，父女倆關係變僵，聰明更因此決定離鄉到大城市去工作。
江順思念著女兒，而聰明在城市裡的生活過得並不快樂。為了江順，夠力打聽到了聰明的下落，並帶著江順去找她，究竟江順是否能把聰明帶回適耕莊，父女倆是否能破鏡重圓呢？
Jiang Shun and his brother, Jiang Gou Li make an honest living by running their modest family-owned coffee shop. Their lives are forever changed when the simple-minded Jiang Shun finds an abandoned baby and decides to care for her. Named Jiang Chong Ming, she brings great joy and happiness to Jiang Shun.
But as all parents know, babies grow up and soon, come into their own independence. They begin to discover and experience things, all for the very first time. For Chong Ming, what should have been a delightful sweet tale of first love is marred by her boyfriend's mother's disapproval. The sole reason being Chong Ming's underprivileged background. This causes Chong Ming to grow conscious of how people see and judge her before finally laying the blame on her adoptive father. She proceeds to run away as a means of solution. Will Jiang Shun be able to find his daughter and bring her home?
