Item Description
Shining Ark takes place in Arcadia, a beautiful island constantly under the pirates' attack. To protect the villagers from the armed sea bandits, the young men formed a defence force. However, are they prepared to fight the massive monster Nephilim? A struggle of the grandest scale starts the day the young man Freed finds an angel washed up the shore. The angel Panis seems to have a special power in her songs, and mysterious foes are after her special power. Besides fighting on land, sometimes they have to sail out to the seas to meet the pirates. But fighting is just one part of the game, from harvesting produce to baking bread, there are lots to do.

Meh
The good news: The character designs are good.
The bad news: Battles are just too easy, and require almost no strategy whatsoever. The only time you will ever have any amount of difficulty is during the boss battles. Even still, I never had a character die the entire game. The story isn't particularly interesting either. A lot of the game ends up just being you completing the same quests over and over again. (Deliver this rope to Peter, deliver this sword to the guy on the beach etc).
As sad as it is, I really only got enjoyment out of the daily events, which sometimes result in some fairly enjoyable dialogue between the characters. I do caution you though: the characters themselves aren't necessarily annoying, but they are so nice to each other that it starts to get ridiculous.
I can only recommend this game if you understand Japanese and enjoy small talk that is unrelated to the story line. The gameplay really isn't going to keep you coming back, unfortunately.

Good game
My first time playing one of the shining series. The game is pretty fun, but the battles are way too easy. Still, worth a shot if you're a fan of the valkyria chronicles battle system.
