Hidden gem of a game
Wow. What a surprise this game turned out to be. Cheaply priced I thought I'd give it a try but didn't have high hopes. I was so very wrong! This is a game that contains the ultra rare feature: gameplay! This is not a game about hign resolution gimmicks, commercial tie-ins or is an obvious money grab by the publisher. This is a game that you play.

The Last Guy is a top down view off a city (think google maps) where the buildings contain survivors hiding inside. Roaming the streets are zombies and other related creatures who will happily kill any people nearby. You role is to run around and collect survivors and take them back to the pickup point without running into and zombies. Very simple in concept and execution.

As you run around and get close to a building survivors start pouring out of its exits to wait on the street to join with you. They then follow you as you run around gathering up hundreds and hundreds more. The crowd line gets longer and longer unless you pause and gather them close and you need to keep an eye out for where the nasties are roaming. You have a set time limit before the pickup craft arrives to carry your gathered survivors off to safety. If you've met the level goal (example 1,000 survivors in 3 minutes) then you'll unlock the next level.

Scattered around the city will be some powerups (such as invisibility which lets you run your survivors to the pickup point right past a zombie) and also hidden in various buildings or parked cars may be a VIP survivor which gives you added bonuses.

It's a fast paced and simple game to play, very fun and addictive too! People and monsters are very simple representations, this is not a horror/gore game, which makes it a very fun game for players of all ages and genders.

Hugely fun and very affordable, add this game to your collection because you won't regret it.

Different and fun, nice to see it get a disc release. Good for fans of simple 80's style arcade games.
