During the early regin of Republic of China, Cheng Fong Tin (Sammo Hung) conducted speculative business in the Northeast frontier. Chinese Government sent secret agent Laifu (Kenny Chung) to pursue him. However, Cheng was repeatedly able to escape.Train service between Shanghai and Chengdu was launched. The first train carried many high officials and noble lords including a Japanese envoy with the national treasure. It drew the attention of Shanghai triads colluding with gangsters to plunder the treasure. The train was forced to stop at Hanshui town due to the railroad was exploded by Cheng. Passengers had to stay at Hanshui that brought great wealth to this place. At the same time, triads and gangsters arrived and got ready to rob the town. Cheng cooperated with security master (Yuen Biao), absconded ex-security master Joke Bo (Eric Tsang), Laifu, the residents in town and the passengers to fight against the gangs. When the triads and gangsters are defeated and fled, Cheng became once again a fugitive.

Set in the Wanhua district of Taipei in the 1980s, Monga is a film about the lives of Taiwanese gangsters. The plot primarily centers around the lives of five young gangsters, documenting their days in high school to their venture into adulthood whilst exploring themes like friendship and loyalty. The plot is interesting and dramatic and the characters are well-developed. My only critique is that some of the scenes and the dialogue can feel a bit dragged out and repetitive. But overall, it is quite a polished production that is well-acted by its young cast and the film does a great job developing these characters and in telling the compelling story that these kids go through.
