- A brand new RPG set in a dystopian future by the makers of Lords of the Fallen
- Tight, visceral combat mechanics where every move counts
- A unique and exciting dismemberment and upgrade system
Set in a heavily dystopian future as Earth nears the end of its life, those who remain in the overpopulated cities must work to survive as social programs become saturated by an ageing population and increasing environmental diseases.
As the intelligence of technology incrementally increased over the years, many jobs for the human race had been made redundant, forcing Earth's citizens to head out into the suburbs seeking labor, aided by exoskeletons to improve their efficiency. The world of The Surge offers a very grim vision of the future, where the evolution of our technology, our society and our relation with the environment led to a decadent state of the Human civilization.
The Surge features innovative combat mechanics and an original character progression system based on modular upgrades gained through tight, visceral combat.

decent story, good fights with all the enemies, very customizable parts
great price as well
Good game, great price
Pretty decent souls type game with a sci-fi twist. While it has a few nice extras to differentiate itself, like targeting specific parts for a chance to break them, it really is bloodborne with robots. The combat is pretty smooth and the dodge/roll system is fairly solid. The enemies are tough but not too tough. Once you get the hang of the targeting system you'll be blowing through areas.
In a nutshell, The Surge is a much easier, much shorter, take on games like Dark Souls and Nioh.
It's a perfect introduction to the "Hardcore RPG" sub-genre, where you gain weapons and armor by literally tearing them off of your enemies. It is fun and satisfying, to say the least.
Of course, it has its flaws, such as the laughably unbalanced weapons and armors. A good example is the MG Gorgon, an armor you can get fairly early that outclasses all the other armors in the game.
Outside of a few other nitpicks, like the non-existent music (the only song I can remember is the strange country music it plays in the Operations rooms), The Surge is solid, and well worth a purchase.
