There are indeed a lot of celebrations this year. The speediest hedgehog in the game world holds his 20th birthday in 2011. The music producer of the ultra-popular J-Pop band Dreams Come True collects his compositions for the classic game into this voluminous triple pack CD album. From the familiar tracks from the UFO catcher machines to the music that players might have missed while they were in the game, the package has the most original and unadulterated flavor that's essential to Sonic.

Ideal for Mega Drive Sonic fans.

This 3-CD set has all the always enjoyable original tunes from the Mega Drive Sonic and Sonic 2 games as well as demo versions of the soundtracks and the song "Sweet Dream" which was also used as the final song in Sonic 2. I especially like the "Masa's Demo" version of the Emerald Hill and Aquatic Ruin zones, but other of these "demos" aren't that good.
It includes a brief booklet, which I think is a pretty addition, with the track listing, an interview with the original composer and some nice illustrations.
The box could be more elaborate because it looks fragile and cheap and the booklet comes stored inside the front cover like in an envelope.

Complete and charming, a very interesting purchase for every genuine early Sonic fan.

Way past cool.

These tracks bring back so much memories from my childhood in the 90's. New fans and old fans should add this to their collection. I still keep my Sonic games close to this day.

Belongs in every Sonic Fan collection

Every true Sonic fan must have this soundtrack in his/her CD collection. I can recommend this soundtrack to really everyone. The second CD contains demo versions of the soundtracks from Sonic the hedgehog 1 and 2 which I have never heard before. Additionally, the booklet is completely translated into english and contains an interview with Masato Nakamura the composer of the songs and a statement of Yuji Naka himself.
The CD is worth every penny.

Classic Sonic fans will want this

As someone who grew up playing the Genesis and loved the Sonic games, this soundtrack was a blast to listen to. Listening to all the classics is great and the new versions are amazing. Well worth the purchase.
