Item Description

Complete the mission...or face erasure.
That's all Neku knows after regaining consciousness in the middle of a busy intersection without his memories. Now he and his partner must fight to survive a life-or-death game in this twisted tale with more turns than the urban labyrinth of Tokyo they're trapped in. This definitive version of Square Enix's RPG classic brings the dark story to life on the Nintendo Switch system along with a new scenario and some killer, new remixed music.

In the crowded chaos of Tokyo, players of the Reapers' Game must complete daily missions or face total erasure. Neku might not be enthusiastic about forging relationships, but with his very life on the line, he'll need to learn how to work together with a partner—and fast: they only have seven days. Gear up with stat-enhancing threads and collect mysterious pins to unleash psychic abilities in battle. Take control of real-time, action-fueled RPG battles using touch controls or Joy-Con™ controllers. The definitive version of this modern classic is finally here.

Nostalgia has never looked better...with a catch.
My 4-star rating is mostly directed to my exprience buying with Play-asia. I'm glad this is the only site to provide firsthand copy of Final Remix in ESRB. It's getting rarer nowadays so super glad I didn't have to play scalper price for this. There's a little bubble gap in the plastic cover for my game and the packaging has barely any bubble wrap, I was lucky that it wasn't any severe damage but fair warning if you preferred your game case to be in pristine condition/delivered in extra security.

Now onto the game itself, I'm a big fan of TWEWY since I played it as a 14 year old on my DS and I couldn't be happier to see the sprites in full glory without the limitations of a compressed DS screen. But god, Square Enix did the bare minimum with this port. You still have to USE THE TOUCH SCREEN 100% OF THE TIME when playing in handheld. NO button inputs, even for progressing through dialogues. Playing docked doesn't fully solve this either since they only allow you to play with a single joycon with the combat using motion controls, which is even worse than touch screens. If this is your first time playing TWEWY, please save yourself and play this on the DS instead, you'll be questioning yourself why would you be playing this control scheme when there's a previous handheld that was meant for this gameplay and wouldn't make you look like a fool when playing this game out and about. Plus you get to view the intended original CGs that was made with dual screen in mind. If this isn't your first time playing TWEWY and you still wanted it for the upscaled graphics, a refresher to NEO TWEWY or a Nintendo Switch is all you have, prop your Switch on the table with its kickstand and grab yourself those cheap capacitive phone stylus on Amazon. This is the most feasible setup I could get with this control scheme, even though its anything but portable especially compared to the compact-ness of the original DS. My actual rating for the game itself would be 3/5.
