Item Description

This limited edition remaster celebrates Sakamoto's timeless masterpiece, a piano, cello, and violin trio session.
Originally released in 1996, "1996" was a masterpiece. To commemorate its 30th anniversary, this album was remastered in 2026 by Robin Schmidt (24-96 Mastering). Furthermore, at the request of Ryuichi Sakamoto, the fourth track on side D (the album's final track) was changed to "Self Portrait" during the 2011 remastering of the USA edition.

Beautiful

Fantastic reissue of a classic album. I can't imagine the original release sounding better than this reissue; that's how well this anniversary edition of 1996 is! Includes both inserts from the original LP release, gatefold outer sleeve, and obi strip. Highly recommended!
