Angel's Egg Image Boards Collection [Limited Edition]

"Angel's Egg," a legendary anime created in 1985 by two internationally acclaimed creators, was conceived and art directed by Yoshitaka Amano and conceived, written, and directed by Mamoru Oshii. News of a 4K remaster planned for 2025, the 40th anniversary of the film's release, sparked widespread buzz both in Japan and overseas. The film has since achieved the remarkable feat of being selected for a series of international festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival, the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, and the Tokyo International Film Festival.

Now, for the first time, the image boards—the source of this outstanding art design—are being collected in a collection. While the image boards have been published in several publications in the past, this book brings together all 276 of the original drawings.

The image boards, each beautifully and delicately drawn by a young Yoshitaka Amano, are not merely intermediate works of the anime; they are each fully completed paintings. Each of the 276 original image boards was photographed at high resolution rather than scanned, and then printed in high definition on thick, high-quality paper.
