A collection of exquisite texts that accompany the sweet R&B of the 1990s.
52 self-selected liner notes that are the origin of Kiyoshi Matsuo!
Kiyoshi Matsuo made his debut as a writer based on the magazine Black Music Review. He is now known as a producer and songwriter, and is a hit maker with cumulative sales of more than 30 million singles and albums, but he started his career as a writer. In his book, Matsuo himself has carefully selected 52 liner notes from the vast number of liner notes he wrote in the 1990s.
The book is divided into three chapters: "Chapter 1: Women! (female singers)", "Chapter 2: Men! (male singers)", and "Chapter 3: Flowers and Storms! (groups)".
Based on chart rankings and other data, Matsuo is well-versed in everything from the history and genealogy of black music to the latest trends, and has also conducted many on-site interviews with artists himself, so he has written a number of valuable commentaries (and a number of real-life experiences) that only he could have written. This is both a frank record of the reception of R&B in the 90s and a guide to beautiful melodies. By the way, did you know that the term "beautiful melodies", which is commonly used now, was invented by Matsuo?
