A movie tie-in that is decent!

Having played through movie tie-ins such as pirates of the carribbean and matrix, i'd have to say this one beats them hands down. With the same feel and content throughout the game, it blends in nicely as a sequel to the show.

However, the game does get repetitive with similiar enemies and situations..

This game is great, but...

Stranglehold has a beautiful package which contains two DVD-DL discs (needs 15GiB free for installation). The game is a excellent sequel to the Hard Boiled movie. Unfortunately, this third-person shooter game is not compatible with controlers or joysticks, keyboard & mouse only.

Something really different and refreshing

I came across this game quite late, and primarily bought it because it seemed similar to the Max Payne series, which was itself inspired by Woo's films. When I started playing, however, the game far surpassed any max payne game, or any action game for that matter.

The audio is SUPERB (though a bit too loud sometimes), you can hear all kinds of stuff - explosions, guns, rubble falling, objects breaking, what not. The graphics are just okay by today's standards but some of the shaders are really cool (rain effects are great). The gameplay is just totally different and highly entertaining and refreshing. Chow Yun Fat delivers his stuff well, and so does everyone else for that matter. It plays out like a big movie and doesn't let up on the action for even a minute.

Even more interesting are the physics - massive D. The amount of rubble you will see after a firefight is simply awesome. I haven't seen stuff like this in a lot of games.

On the flip side, the game does get repetitive sometimes (so play in short bursts) and the regular slow-mo might prove irritating sometimes. But overall, this game is one of the most refreshing high-adrenaline shooters I've played in the past few years.

Highly recommended: 8/10 :)
