Return to the roots of the legendary castle-building strategy series with Stronghold 4, the long-awaited next mainline entry from **Firefly Studios. Set as a narrative prequel to the original Stronghold, the game combines cinematic storytelling, medieval city-building, and large-scale siege warfare while introducing new mechanics, enhanced customization options, and modern features for strategy fans.
Players take on the role of Penryn of Wethel, a shepherd whose quiet life is shattered when the kingdom descends into chaos. Through a story-driven campaign, players will build thriving castles, manage resources, defend against hostile forces, and master increasingly complex sieges as they rise from humble beginnings to leadership.
Beyond the campaign, Stronghold 4 offers extensive replayability through Skirmish Mode, Free Build Mode, custom castle construction, and battles against unique AI opponents. The Steam Early Access version includes a substantial amount of content while additional features such as multiplayer, cooperative gameplay, and an economic campaign are planned for the full release.
