Blue Reflection brings back the nostalgic fun of traditional JRPG's from the PS2 era. With a turn-based battle system accompanied by music that may sound like its from Final Fantasy, this game breaks away from the action RPG aspect that many other RPG games are doing today. At certain times this may feel like you are playing a Bishoujo game as you play a school girl in Japan improving your rapport with others in an all-girl school. As your relationship with these people improve, you can earn certain items from them to upgrade your party. Similar to "Materia" from Final Fantasy 7, there are colored items (..shared by your party) that you put into slots on your weapons for upgrading certain stats. The story may remind you of the Sailor Moon series as you see the girls' transformations into their special outfits before they go into battle. The faces of the girls you interact with seem to eventually unlock and appear on the "Press Start" screen as you progress through each chapter of the game. The camera is locked at certain angles as you traverse through the school, but upon entering other realms where the battles mostly take place, the game is open world with a free moving camera using the right analog stick before running into an enemy to start a fight. The main character's cellphone can be used to have text message conversations with her friends, play a mini-game, change wallpapers on the phone and even listen to the game's soundtrack. There is also a certain area in the school that allows you to change the clothes of the main character or her friends to different outfits. Blue Reflection is an impressive game featuring game-play, music, appearance and the style of great JRPG's and anime from long ago and is definitely worth buying.
