features

  • Slay enemies in style with combos! - Chain together combos using your sword and dual-wielded guns to defeat enemies and earn Red Orbs that help make Dante stronger! The more style, the more orbs you'll receive! You can keep track of how stylish you're performing by the ranks you'll see at the top-right of the screen. For example, in the first game, get one combo and you'll rank "Dull" but keep chaining more together and you'll climb the ranks in order of Cool! → Bravo! → Absolute! and Stylish!
  • Demons Hate Him! - In the first installment of the Devil May Cry series, the player controls Dante as he faces off against the resurrected Demon Emperor, Mundus. The game introduces Dante's abilities, like Devil Trigger which transforms him into a demon, swordplay, gun-slinging, and stylish combos, all of which have become a staple of the series
  • Dancing with the Devil - Devil May Cry 2 takes place many years after the first game. This installment introduces the ability to run along walls, the Rain Storm ability, and others, giving Dante even more freedom to defeat enemies in style. You can also play as the new character, Lucia, who uses speed as a weapon against enemies, as opposed to Dante who relies on power. The bonus mode, Bloody Palace, also makes its first appearance here
  • More Fun Than You Can Handle - Devil May Cry 3 takes place before the events of the first game. In this installment, you can choose different close-combat styles like Swordmaster and Gunslinger, and it's up to you which style you decide to develop and improve on. This game also contains the Special Edition features that let you play as Dante's brother Vergil

description

Devil May Cry (2001)
This is the one that started it all, starring a mature and subdued Dante, which matched the mood and tempo of the game’s sense of isolation during the exploration sequences and tough-as-nails boss battles. It’s also the game that inspired my favorite TV game ad of all time:

Devil May Cry 2 (2003)
Taking place after the events of the first Devil May Cry, this sequel strives for a more cinematic look and feel to combat, changing things up in how the camera behaves, but also taking extreme care to make the animations more natural and fluid. Plus, you can unlock and play as Trish, featuring her own unique weapons and move set.

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition (2006)
Focusing on the origins of our favorite demon hunter, this prequel features a much younger and more rambunctious Dante who cares very little about how much damage he’s doing to even his own shop as long as he can chew his pizza and kick some butt. And he runs out of pizza.

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition quickly took the spotlight as a fan favorite with the addition of combat Styles that significantly change the way you slay demons. These Styles can be selected and upgraded between each mission. This game also puts a spotlight on Dante’s relationship with his twin brother Vergil, who is an unlockable character with his own move set and gameplay.

Devil May Cry FTW
When Capcom stated that they were releasing this game collection on the Switch, I had to have the Physical Copy. Although the first 2 games are awesome, the 3rd one is my standout favourite. The additions that Capcom have added here are brilliant and really make the game so much closer to the newer games. Being able to switch Style in mid Combo and Change Weapons on the fly in game instead of selecting them before the level starts is a very welcome addition. 2 player Bloody Palace is a fantastic addition too. This is easily best to be described as the definitive version of Devil May Cry 3! Probably one of my favourite all time games!
