Excellent game
A must have if you are into JRPGs. This version contains a lot of extras (Japanese voices, 2D mode, orchestral soundtrack, quality of life improvements), making it the best way to play it. The original version look better though, since this an upscaled version of the Switch port. I super recommend it.

Medieval Phantom Thieves
Is it just me or is this game also giving you low-budget feels? 🤔

It's giving me...Tokyo Xanadu vanilla on PS Vita vibes. The Grimwald Nox-Lemures premise also seems to have been borrowed from said game's Eclipse-Greeds. There's also no anime intro although that may be a blessing in disguise. What they did in Ys VIII became full-blown UGLY in Cold Steel 3 & 4.

Come on, Falcom. Adol deserves to be in Ys Seven art style again. I can see that artist is back for Kuro No Kiseki.
Overall, Ys IX is super fun for me and that's what's really important. Medieval Phantom Thieves? You betcha! LOL
It will also drive the completionist in you insane. That map and those seemingly within reach treasure chests, graffiti and azure petals. Gah! Good thing they axed harvest points from your to-do list. 🤣

Kudos to the devs FINALLY making characters share their field abilities, so there's no more stupid need to stop and swap party members in and out. Kudos, too, to whomever implemented Heaven's Run. It took exploration to a whole new level and Adol warping/warpstriking (Crimson Line) like Noctis? Yes!!
