Fantastic fun
At the time of writing all the other reviews for this game seem to be for Chrono Cross. The game I am reviewing is Dungeon Encounters as that is what the listing is for.

This is a very basic looking Dungeon Crawler with all the boring bits like generic story removed.

There is a very good steam review for this game which suggests reading the negative reviews for this. If the complaints mentioned in the negative reviews sound good to you then you will like this game.

Love this game
The game is a bit hard to describe. I say that because it’s very simplistic and minimalistic, so I can imagine hearing that might put some people off, but the devs made that choice on purpose. Again, the design is very minimal and simple, but the game itself is pretty deep and definitely satisfying.

Dungeon crawling RPG, literally
There is nothing more in this game than to get to the bottom of a 100 floor dungeon. Although the characters have little 1 paragraph back stories they don't interact or have any dialog whatsoever. This game is all combat that starts out simple but as you get deeper you can start to understand there is more of a meta than initially thought. It has a health and armor system reminiscent of Divinity Original Sin 2. With all that said, the game itself is very addicting having that "1 more floor and I'm done feel". If you like turn based combat, you will not regret buying this. And I doubt it will get a reprint so you should get your copy today before it's gone.

Way more fun than I anticipated!
I'm so glad I took a chance on preordering this! I have only made it as far as level 17, but I have several hours in. This game is distilled down to its most basic elements. You pick up an ability very early on that allows you to see where encounters are, so you can go in blind if you want, or you can turn on that ability and avoid encounters if you want.

I thought the first 10 or so levels of the dungeon seemed really easy, and I think that's just because I got lucky with what and how often status affects got applied to my party. Once I made it deeper in and needed to backtrack, I had petrified people all over and poison eating away my HP, etc., etc. All that is to say, if it starts out seeming kinda easy, just wait. The difficulty will ramp up.

I'm enjoying this game way more than I thought I would. When I first loaded it, and saw how simple the actual gameplay looked (in terms of graphics, controls, etc.), I sort of wondered if I might have made a mistake, but it's really addicting. If you like mystery dungeon type games, dungeon crawlers, RPGs, and you don't require complex gameplay or graphics, you might really enjoy this game! Even without complex mechanics, it requires strategy and a tad bit of luck. Do you push on for 2 more floors to try to find the teleporter back to the stores? Or are you in such a bind you need to backtrack 8 floors to the previous one so you can salvage your party?

Highly recommended!
