My EastWard
Eastward is a masterpiece that looks and feels not like a niche love message to our childhood hits, but like a big, serious game. Rich, beautiful, soulful and captivating - with a plot, characters, a combination of humor, drama and tragedy. Who might not like her? Well, probably to the principled pixel-haters, although the art, the abundance of details and colors certainly look great.

Pros: the plot, with all the clichés about saving the world, keeps you in suspense; characters, destinies that do not leave indifferent; not open, but a large and interesting world that you want to explore; gameplay, which seems primitive at first, becomes intense and challenging; music evokes nostalgia, and graphics delight the work of artists.

GOTY Retro Goodness
Eastward has charming pixel graphics, but with a level of polish hardly ever seen nowadays. It's stunning, the characters are beyond charming and the gameplay is a throwback to both Earthbound and older Zelda games. A must-have for any gaming fan

A Hidden Gem
Despite the title of this review, people seem to be talking about it more and more.... And with good reason! It is obvious that the developers put a lot of TLC in the details of the game. The sprite work is amazing, and the story will make you laugh and cry at times. The world building is subtle. A lot of people compare with game with Final Fantasy 7, and I can sorta see why. FF7 was a game that in retrospect, was not really doing anything that couldn't be found in other games at the time, but the sum of its parts really made it stand above and beyond others. Eastward is the same way. If you are looking for a physical copy, as of writing this, the Japanese edition is the only one available. But the cartridge does come with English! It is fully translated and everything! It would be a shame if the game never gets a physical North America release, but at least this one is accessible to you.
