Βασισμένο στην τριλογία ταινιών The Lord of the Rings, το LEGO® The Lord of the Rings ακολουθεί τις αρχικές ιστορίες του The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers και The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, παίρνοντας τους παίκτες μέσα από τα επικά γεγονότα της ιστορίας που φανταστήκαν ξανά με το χιούμορ και την ατελείωτη ποικιλία του παιχνιδιού LEGO.
