"Angel's Egg" has been remastered in 4K to commemorate 40 years since its production.
This book features 100 carefully selected scenes recorded directly from the 4K film in the highest quality, along with 100 epigrams (short poems and aphorisms) written by Director Oshii himself to accompany each image, in both Japanese and English.
While praised as an aesthetically pleasing art animation, it has also been described as difficult to understand. This unprecedented book offers a tactile glimpse into the deep thoughts and imagination of the creator at the time of production, and a glimpse of what he was aiming for, which are difficult to see from the film alone.
