Apidya’ Special is a side‑scrolling shoot ’em up (shmup) on Steam and a modern remake of the classic 1992 Amiga game Apidya. Rebuilt from the ground up, this version preserves the original’s charm while enhancing it with updated visuals, sound, and gameplay features.

Unlike typical space shooters, Apidya’ Special features a unique setting where you control a bee in a vibrant insect-themed fantasy world, battling enemies across organic environments like meadows, ponds, and underground areas.

This remake stays faithful to the original while introducing 24-bit pixel art, improved effects, and a newly arranged soundtrack by legendary composer Chris Hülsbeck. Players can switch between a modern widescreen mode or the original 4:3 retro presentation, complete with optional CRT effects for an authentic classic feel.
