Channel Guidelines

  • Remote-opened channels stay open unless they are mostly on our side and dormant for over 3 months.
  • If we initiate a force close, we will typically re-open the channel.
  • Fees are adjusted automatically every few hours based on routing activity.
  • Channels below 2% capacity on our side receive negative inbound fees. Opening a channel to us will route quickly as long as you have inbound capacity on your other channels and a reasonable fee structure.
  • We keep outbound fees low while capacity is still mostly on our side.
  • Channels smaller than the listed minimums are accepted, but routing performance and profitability may be limited.

Fee Philosophy

SG Our fee adjustments are designed to keep channels balanced, not to maximize revenue. We actively rebalance using our own algorithms to ensure a smooth experience for all channel partners. When outbound capacity gets low on a channel, we nudge fees up modestly so traffic prefers better-funded paths, but we never apply prohibitive “stop” fees — depleted channels stay open and routable so they have a chance to refill from the remote side.

Lightning fees are directional: each side of a channel sets its own outgoing fee, and that fee only applies to payments flowing out of that side. Our outgoing fee does not affect payments coming into our node — sends from your side toward us still go through at the normal fee set by your end, which is exactly what’s needed to refill the channel. As local balance recovers, our outgoing fee drops back to baseline automatically. We never close or disable a channel just because it’s depleted.
