Surprisingly Enjoyable!
I went into this with very low expectations, having been put off by reviews of the original release 5-ish years ago.

I was pleasantly surprised the find that I really had a good time playing this. The combat system is interesting and well-implemented (though Break attacks feel kind of useless in the second half of the game). The dialogue is hilarious, and I love all the geeky references. Compa in the Japanese version is just fantastic =)

My only two major complaints are that the dungeons are painfully repetitive, and that the crafting system is obnoxiously unwieldy and grindy. If you want to engage seriously with crafting, you *will* need an external guide (regardless of language ability) to have any hope of tracking down which monsters in which dungeons drop what you need.

Anyway, while those issues are irritating my overall experience was still strongly positive. I would definitely recommend and will be buying the sequels.

Learning curve :)
Fantastic game but if you don't know japanese I'd recommend at least a basic understanding of kana for example simple worlds like Aitemu (item) etc which a basic translator can help you learn the kana will help. Even simple words like yes and no. You will not be able to get the most out of this without some preparation. Anyway with the language stuff out the way, if you have played the localised ps3 versions you will love this game and plays very similar Victory.

Excellent
Many changes, many upgrades, this is the game we wanted the first time :) If you like the other games for the franchise, this one is perfect for you. Choujigen Geimu Neptune Re: Birth isn't juste a simple remake, it is a new game. Not only the battle system, all the exploration system and graphics have been improved.
