Cyan issue 44 spring 2026' features MAYUKA, a member of the nine-member girl group NiziU, in her first appearance in the magazine and her first solo double-sided cover.
Throughout her time with the group, she has carefully confronted her own personal changes. This time, as a solo artist, she showcases her current position across 16 pages. We have captured the current MAYUKA, encompassing both the experience she has accumulated so far and the new perspectives that have emerged from it. In the photoshoot, we brought out a different side of her through styling and hair and makeup incorporating light, spring-like colors. Her expressions, emerging in soft light and air, are natural yet convey a strong inner core. Behind her quiet demeanor, the depth of time she has accumulated and her determination for the future naturally shine through.
In the interview, MAYUKA speaks frankly about the changes she has felt in herself over the five years since her debut, her approach to performance, and the future she wants to create. Each word she speaks, reflecting her re-examination of both her role within the group and her identity as an individual performer, embodies her current reality. Furthermore,
MAYUKA's group, NiziU, released their 2nd EP, "GOOD GIRL BUT NOT FOR YOU," on April 1st, and has performances scheduled at Kyocera Dome Osaka and Tokyo Dome in June. We can't take our eyes off their continued success as a group.
The theme of this issue of cyan is "new perspective," signifying a re-examination of things from a different angle and the discovery of new perspectives and values. Starting with this issue, cyan will be bilingual in English and Japanese, expanding globally from its London base to Europe, America, and Asia.
