Item Description

The founding of the Berliner Philharmoniker on the first of May in 1882, is annually celebrated with a concert in an European city of cultural significance.In 1993 the Berliner Philharmoniker chose the Royal Albert Hall for their third EUROPAKONZERT, this time under the baton of Bernard Haitink. They were joined by Soloist Frank Peter Zimmerman for Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3, a concerto which is a finely balanced dialogue between orchestra and soloist and which is said to be very hard to be mastered.

In this recording, Bernard Haitink, who is now an honorary member of the Berliner Philharmoniker, spurs the instrumentalists to what has become a very distinguished performance in a concert hall that is know for its particularly difficult acoustics.
