The best way to experience Front Mission 1st for non-japanese speakers
My experience with this series resumes to the completion of FM3 long ago on PS1 and playing a bit of this FM 1st on DS and reselling it as I did not manage to enter into it. Then came the remake on Switch, which had me continue a bit longer than when I did with the DS version. That time I got into it. So much that I decided to buy again to experience original experience with this refined Sprites and pixel that confine to art today when you saw them in actions. I enjoyed it to the end. The most difficult part is the beginning but I love the fact that you have to specialise your pilots through the "roles" you give to them. That's how experience works there. The Mecha design is superb for the most part and became quite iconic.
One advice though : DO NOT underestimate the optional UCS scenario : it is the best part of the game !
I just completed it and loved it. The scenario and writing is way above the OCU one, the hero is more likeable and relatable to, and the missions are more diversed and way less repetitive that the OCU ones. To me it is the best part of the game(however shorter), I thank myself to have given it a try !
There are also cameos and story elements linked to other episodes from the series.

Great remake!
A great remake of the original game for the Super Nes! I wanted it so badly when it came out 15 years ago and now it got a Western release...! Get it!

My fourth FM1, 1st in English language
It only tells you how much I love this game, and it's a game that deserves so much love. The story, characters, system never gets old, buy it if you like strategy games.

Essential.
After struggling through the original Japanese SNES version all those years ago, it's an absolute treat to rediscover this gem of a game and finally pick up all the nuances that I had no choice but to gloss over first time around.
Yes, it's a 15 or so year old game and it's definitely show's it age, but it's also a bona-fide classic that spawned some pretty great sequels and deserves to be viewed as such. Essential DS gaming...
