A fun rogue-lite from the folks at Yuke's
I bought this game back in 2025 and only just beat it now in 2026 (too many games releasing), what i can say is that i regret not finishing this back in 2025, this was fun!
The Positive: Great combat flow, character designs are cute, the story and overall dialogue is silly, but fun, perfectly passable though nothing great.
The Okay: The level variety could be a little bit more.. well, varied, every 10 or 30 floors or so you get a new texture change, indicating you're getting deeper into the tower, and to the top floor, besides that, not much changes, you get more enemy varieties, but stage hazards and traps pretty much all stay the same. The gameplay is overall very RNG focused, every floor is randomly generated, as is the loot you get, because of that your play session could be pretty different from what i encountered during my playthrough, so your playthrough might be slightly different, for the better or worse.
The Negatives: The most negative aspect about the game is that the game on purpose kills your play session early everytime you beat one of the 4 primary bosses, this is so you can unlock new upgrades to make you more powerful for the fight ahead, however you have to start from the beginning every single time, making an already tedious genre of game more tedious than it has to be. In an attempt to make the game easier they give you 'elevator keys' so you can get higher up in the tower so you don't have to start from floor 1 every time, however these keys are pointless unless you've already upgraded your character, because starting on say floor 55 with a low leveled character will end in an early demise, whereas just starting from floor 1 will pretty much make you over-powered every time, making the keys redundant unless you start over in New Game Plus with a fully upgraded character, very strange design choice.
Despite all the negative i had to say, i actually quite enjoyed my time with the game, i managed to beat the final boss with only a quarter of my health left, losing to the boss (which has 3 phases..) would mean starting all the way over on floor 1, that's a new 6+ hour playthrough, so you can imagine how nerve wracking that was, because of this moment i actually left the game feeling very satisfied because it gave me an adrenaline kick right at the end.
Overall my total playtime is 27 hours, counting every time a primary boss ends a session, and my final 6 hour session (which involved level skips by using hidden warp points).
I happily give this a 5 out of 5 stars, not the most polished game out there, but come back to it every so often, and you can have a great time, worth snagging if you can find a copy!
