Storyline:
2045. The world has plunged into a planned and sustainable war due to an economic disaster that has shaken all nations and the explosive evolution of AI. Public Security Section 9, led by Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body cyborg, heads to Tokyo, which has been reduced to ruins in the previous war, in order to prevent cyber crimes by new human beings "post-humans" who suddenly appeared in the cyber society. With the threat of nuclear war looming due to a captured nuclear submarine, a three-way battle between Public Security Section 9, the United States, and post-humans intensifies.
