Item Description

Mega Man: Dual Override brings the Blue Bomber back for a brand-new adventure in 2027, with Capcom positioning the game as the latest entry in the classic Mega Man series. The story takes place while Dr. Light is absent, when robots begin running rampant at a Robot exhibition. Mega Man must investigate the incident and restore peace, but this time he will not be fighting alone, as Proto Man joins the adventure as a playable character with his own abilities and playstyle.

The newest gameplay information, revealed during Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026, introduces two of the game's major gameplay systems: Custom Chips and Override. Custom Chips allow players to enhance and personalize Mega Man and Proto Man with abilities such as rapid-fire shots, a protective shield bubble, and hovering. Players can experiment with different combinations to tailor each character to their preferred approach.

The new Override system provides another way to push the characters beyond their normal capabilities. Activating Override temporarily unlocks a robot's limiter and grants tremendous power, but the effect comes with a drawback: when the power ends, some abilities become temporarily inoperable. Timing the ability correctly will therefore be an important part of overcoming difficult encounters.

The latest trailer also revealed Twinkle Girl, one of the game's new Robot Masters. This energetic robot specializes in spectacular fireworks and goes on a rampage after her desire to perform during a nighttime show spirals out of control. The trailer additionally features Astro Man from Mega Man 8, suggesting that familiar Robot Masters may also return alongside the new bosses.

Mega Man: Dual Override is planned for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox on PC, Steam, and Epic Games Store in 2027. PlayStation, Microsoft Store, and Steam listings are already available for wishlisting.
