Item Description

Set in the shattered subway of a post apocalyptic Moscow, Metro 2033 is a story of intensive underground survival where the fate of mankind rests in your hands.

In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth’s surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.

The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.

You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind.

This game would be great if only have a decent AI.

Metro 2033: Sleeper hit of the Year!
In Metro 2033, THQ delivers a challenging, diverse, and compelling story-driven single player experience.

A thriller/political/FPS at heart, Metro 2033 is an atmospheric journey based on a Russian novel of the same name. The graphics are dark and perfectly establish the setting of post-apocalypse Russia and the subway system in which survivors reside and the sound is equally immersing.

Gameplay is standard FPS with the addition of pneumatic weaponry, a gas mask for surface dwelling, and a manual charger to keep the tension up and the player engaged.

A single-player only affair, the option to replay levels and the gamerpoint distribution, and alternate endings all ensure that one playthrough is simply not enough to get the most of this well-told story.

Make every bullet count!

solid
Metro is atmospheric and fun. If you like post-apocalyptic stuff and lite first person shooters, you will like this. Not much replay value, but at a discounted price, definitely worth it.

Atmospheric Thriller Action Game
Metro 2033 is a dark horse game so far this year. It came out in a rather quite times with rather low fan fare, but game proved to provide rather interesting setting and gameplay that gave a fresh feel.

There are some unpolished moments and aspects of the game, but it's well offset by the unique feel the game brings. It almost feels as refreshing as how the first bioshock felt.

If you liked games like bioshock, where first person shooter aspect of the game design was used just to convey a delivery method but it was the setting and story that made it unique, then this is a must try for you.

Fantastically atmospheric game
This game, despite some of the mechanical flaws of the control scheme, is brilliantly atmospheric, and draws you in to the game. Fantastic graphics, great sound. Voice acting is a little jarring if you are not expecting Russian accents...

Definitely worth the price, and definitely worth at least two play-throughs.
