Tal y como esperaba ok
Great retro game
Not as good as the second one but really good nonetheless
Not bad, but not great
After playing Monster Hunter Stories 2 I decided I'd also like the first in the series on Switch to add to my collection. Fundamentally this game is identical to the sequal with MANY re-used designs and assets. I'd say the game is a solid 7/10 with many areas I'm disappointed were not refined for this release. Personally I'm not a fan of most of the armour and weapon designs, your gear is also oddly difficult to upgrade, I'm about halfway through the game and I still haven't been able to upgrade a single weapon or armour set to level 3 despite doing a LOT of grinding. The "Rock, Paper, Scissors" style of gameplay can be kind of annoying as well it's one thing to have the monster you're fighting throw a curveball and lose the head to head it's another entirely to win the head to head and still take damage. This happens without a head to head as well. Considering the player character doesn't recover their health when they mount their "monstie" like in the second game constantly taking damage when attacking feels VERY unbalanced. I also don't like the battle pouch mechanic, it doesn't make the game harder it just makes it more inconvenient and annoying having to micro manage something in a style of game like this. The main thing that drew me to this game is the supposed emphasis on voice acted dialog but the player character is still a mute with "Naviru" doing all, and I do mean ALLLLLL, of the talking. This character VERY quickly will start to grate and you will wish you could shut him up in some way (if I could I would skewer this irritating feline with my rapier weapon to shut him up for good!). Jesus Capcom if you make a 3rd game give this character a backseat and let the protagonist take the wheel of their own story for a change. Side quests are ok but very limited in scope, some don't even award experience and what you do get as a reward seriously makes you question why you bothered with the side quest at all. If you like turn based RPGs you'll likely like this one but you'll undoubtedly will have played better - much better.
A good RPG
I'm glad Capcom brought this to modern consoles. It's a good Pokemon kinda of game.
