Great game for Nintendo 64!
If you have played Super Mario 64, than you know this game is awesome!
The main difference I noticed from Shindou Edition and the standard version was that it uses a rumble pack now. The other 2 things I noticed was the different year on the title screen and the one glitch that any speedrunner is disappointed about being fixed, the amazing stairs glitch. In the normal version, you used to be able to accelerate by long jumping backwards and fly through walls, doors, and the endless stairs, this version fixed that.
As for the game, you play through 15 main courses, each with 6 main stars per level, plus a 100 coin star. There are a few hidden levels making 15 hidden stars total. This is a great platformer to start out your Nintendo 64 experience with.
I liked this game, but I have issues with the N64 controller. The control has been known to go bad, so you have that to worry about, plus, this game is hell on your thumb by pressing forward the whole time. Many times during the game, I can't see what I am doing because the camera doesn't want to move or gets stuck somewhere. Other times, it seems like whenever you try to climb up a ledge, it seems random if the game drops you or lets you climb up the ledge. Other than that, this is a great game with several hours of entertainment and will keep you searching for all 120 stars for a while! I have played the game many times before, so I beat it in 6 hours with everything.
You do not need to read Japanese to play this game, although in some missions for getting stars, it could help, but the game's stages are small enough that anyone should be able to figure them out.
