RayCrisis+Raystom
Two relatively mediocre 2D shooters together in one cheap package! I\'m not quite sure what happened to Taito, but these two sequels to Rayforce (AKA Galactic Attack) aren\'t anything to tell your friends about. Of the two, Raystorm is more solid, and both games sport some pretty neat 3D graphics. The presentation is a lot like the PS2 Silpheed, although the game play is MUCH better than Silpheed. Both games sit at an angle instead of being a true top-down shooter, and even sacrifice tate for a full screen mode. With all the negatives you might think the games have nothing going for them, but it isn\'t quite true. Even if these Ray games don\'t live up to what the original was, they have their own mood and style that isn\'t really matched by anything else, and while I\'d rather stick to pixels and TRUE 2D, if you\'re collecting shmups for the PSX, you\'ll need these in time. Not quite up there with entries like G-Darius, Donpachi, Raiden Project and others, this is the PSX\'s rainy-day entry, and Play Asia has got \'em for cheap, why not?
