Very fun platformer for Super Famicom
Great game with tons of levels, great music, amazing graphics, and awesome controls!
Donkey Kong has some amazing gameplay that will keep you playing for many hours. Most of the levels are regular platforming, some are water levels, and some are barrel-blasting levels which I really enjoy. There are 5 areas to the world, each with at least 6 or 7 stages, and a boss battle at the end which are pretty fun.
The graphics look 3-D which is fantastic for a Super Nintendo game. The backgrounds are very well detailed and some are pretty colorful using many shades of colors making it come to life!
The sounds and music are very good. I personally liked the Fear Factory levels because of their music, level designs, and the overall feel of them. The water stages sound really cool to, they have that sort of deep underwater feel to them. Then of course you have the main Jungle themes which Nintendo has redone so many times over the years. Make sure that you use a surround sound when playing this game and make sure it has bass control.
Their are a large variety of enemies, Kong buddies, and animals in the game. Each of your Kong friends either give you advice, save, or allow you to return to areas you have already played. You have I think 4 different animals you can ride which are all very different from each other. I like Rambi the rhino the best. Many of the enemies represent crocodiles which is a unique idea.
Overall, this is a great game that will keep you and your friends entertained for hours. There is a single player mode, 2-player competition mode, and 2-player team mode. If you are very speedy and just run through games, you are like at about an hour of gameplay. If you take your time, but are still pretty good, you are looking about 2-3 hours of gameplay. If you are new to the series, you could put probably up to 6 hours of gameplay, and still want to play it again. There are also many bonuses within each level which usually involve breaking walls with barrels. If you get all the bonuses and the KONG letters throughout every level, you can get the 101% completion!
Bottom-line, don't settle for the Gameboy Advance version, get the Super Famicom / Nintendo version of Super Donkey Kong!!
