Even in PS3 Era, gameplay this great is seldom achieved!
This translation of Super Streetfighter 2 Turbo is 100% arcade perfect! All the frames of animation, intro screens, speech sample, and music in Q Sound glory.
The only other comparable versions are inferior, either because of loading times or ommissions/deviations from the original game, and even the recent anniversary edition was more of a remake rather than the real thing. There is some Japanese text in the menus so get a guide to get going.
This game not only turns your home into a veritable 1995 arcade, it makes it sound like an arcade too.
The character control is great, all 16 fighters feel the way they did in the arcade, but it is best enjoyed with a joystick or 6 button pad.
I won\'t get into the plot, because its obvious (World fighting tournament with only one victor to emerge).
It is quite amazing how this game holds up over the years, the Character balance is perfect, and even slower, weaker characters have particular strengths. Zangief may not have fireballs but he sure is tough, and in the right hands he can overcome the faster players with timing and some smart counter attacks. The fighting genre may have evolved considerably but gameplay wise, the sixteen characters in this game fight in a beautifully balanced game where any character could be mastered and can be used effectively.
I f you are smart enough to know that it is more important for a game to play well rather than if its 2D or 3D, you will not be surprised that in this PS3/Xbox 360/Wii age, this game still ecclipses most of the new consoles\' lineup of puny mass market fluff. True Street Fighter was mass market in 1993, but only because people wanted to play IT, the machine on which it was mattered little. Today you may own a PS3, and then hope for the good games, but when Streetfighter ruled it was software that shifted units, so put this in your Dreamcast, get a decent bunch of friends around and have some fun, and let all those rich console snobs sit with a load of identikit 3D games to dazzle them.
